WDZ Store Theme
A hand-coded dark storefront theme selling a WordPress plugin suite as subscriptions — real payments, licensing, and a store-wide motion system.
From blank canvas to live theme.
The problem, the build, and what it changed.

01
The problem
Generic e-commerce themes look like templates, hide products in archive lists, and say nothing about what the software actually does. The business needed credible subscription commerce — recurring billing, license keys, automatic updates — presented so buyers understand what they pay monthly for.
-
02
The solution
A fully custom theme: a suite-first homepage funneling into a combined product/pricing grid, and a data-driven template that renders a bespoke landing page per plugin from real captured screenshots. Adding a product is a data entry, not a page build.
-
03
Key features
- Data-driven landing pages — one template, bespoke per product
- 22 retina screenshots captured headless from the live software
- Store-wide motion system, disabled for reduced-motion visitors
- Dark checkout including the Stripe payment iframe itself
- Programmatic branded share cards per product
-

Engineering & performance
Hand-written PHP templates, one stylesheet, vanilla JavaScript — no framework, no jQuery, no builder. EDD Pro with Recurring, Software Licensing and Stripe; the Payment Element is themed through Stripe's Appearance API and survives autofill without flashing white, and every deploy was byte-verified and lint-checked against the live server.

Outcome
A stock download catalog became a product-marketing site where every claim is illustrated by a real screenshot of the shipping software.
